PM Modi also mentioned the amazing knowledge of weather of sailors and tribal society on 150 years of Meteorological Department. He said that the tribal society has an amazing understanding of weather. In fact, on Tuesday, on the occasion of the 150th Foundation Day of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), PM Modi launched ‘Mission Mausam’ with the aim of making the country a ‘smart nation’ to face every weather and climate. During this, PM Modi narrated a 50 year old story related to a tribal child. The child whose story was narrated by PM Modi had the skill to inform the authorities whenever a fire was set in the forest. He was also given money for this.

That 50 years old story, which PM Modi remembered

PM Modi said that I remember a long time ago, it must have been more than 50 years. When I went to spend some time in the Gir forests, the government people there used to give Rs 30 every month to a tribal child. When I asked why this child was being shown this money. To which I got the answer that this child has a different kind of specialty. If there is a fire somewhere in the forest, even far away, it immediately becomes known that there is a fire somewhere. There was that sensation in it. About which he used to inform immediately.

Describing about the tribal child, PM Modi said that that is why he was given Rs. 30. That child must have had the ability to tell by smell where the fire is. On this occasion, PM Modi said that our tribal society also has a very rich heritage. Behind this, there is also an understanding of nature and a very detailed study of animal behavior.

IMD’s 150 years symbolize the glorious journey of science and technology.

Addressing the function, PM Modi said that today we are celebrating 150 years of the Indian Meteorological Department i.e. IMD.
