PM Narendra Modi today honored the Civil Service (IAS) officers for better work in public administration. On Monday, on the occasion of the 17th Civil Services Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi honored Anurag Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary of Namami Gange Department, Prim Minister Award for Excellence in Public Administration. Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Srivastava was honored by the Government of India for the year 2023 in the category of Innovation State. The award was given to Anurag Srivastava, a 1992 batch IAS officer Anurag Srivastava for innovative use of solar power in the projects of Water Life Mission in Uttar Pradesh. During the program held in New Delhi, DM of Moradabad Anuj Singh was awarded the Prime Minister Award for making library for Divyang and DM of Bahraich for administrative work.

UP’s sting in water life mission

More than 80 percent of the projects of water life mission in Uttar Pradesh are based on solar power. Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to use solar power on such a large scale through the Water Life Mission Project. There are a total of 41539 projects in UP under the Water Life Mission in Uttar Pradesh. Out of this, solar energy is being used in 33,157 water life mission projects, due to which 900 MW of electricity is being generated daily. During 30 years, these projects will be operated through solar energy, saving of about 1 lakh crore rupees. This will reduce the emission of about 1.3 million metric tons of carbon dioxide every year.

Why this award is given

This award is given to a few select IAS officers across the country, who do excellent work. The award has been started by the Government of India to recognize and reward extraordinary and innovative works. Under this, at least five priority programs are selected for the award.
