However, the thing which is most discussed. That film’s director is Geetu Mohandas, who has been an actress. Not only this, she has also won the title of Best Child Artist by Kerala State Film Award for her performance.

Who is Geetu Mohandas, director of Toxic?

Toxic’s director Geetu Mohandas is a former actress, who has worked in many hit films. Born as Gayatri Mohandas on February 14, 1981 in Kannur, Kerala, Geetu started her career as a child artist. She took the screen name Geetu during her fourth film, Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vaare (1986). Not only this, he also shared the screen with Mohanlal. She was only five years old then.

When he was young, his first film was Life is Beautiful, in which Mohanlal was seen in the lead role. In the last few years, she was a part of Malayalam films like Thenkasi Pattanam, Valkandi and Akaale directed by Geethu Shyamaprasad. Her role in Akaale earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Malayalam. While her last film as an actress was Nammal Thammil (2009), Geethu ventured into direction with her short film Kelkunnundho in 2009, produced under her own banner Unplugged.

The film premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, winning three international awards for Best Short Film and also a National Film Award in India. It was so influential that it was included as part of the Kerala state curriculum for class 12 students in 2014.

In 2013, Geetu made his directorial debut with a feature film starring Geetanjali Thapa and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film received critical acclaim, winning two National Film Awards for Best Actress and Best Cinematography. It was also India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film Series at the 87th Academy Awards, although it did not make the shortlist. His second feature film, Moothan (The Elder One), continued his success, for which he received the Global Filmmaker Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016. Now fans are eagerly waiting for his upcoming film Toxic, which is ready to release on April 10, 2025.
