
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Jorhat on Friday evening under a three -day visit to Assam and Mizoram. Amit Shah was welcomed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, his cabinet colleagues and senior officials of the state government. The Assam CM said in a post released on ‘X’, “We warmly welcome the Honorable Union Minister Amit Shah at Jorhat Airport on the holy land of Assam.” Officials said that after reaching Jorhat, Shah left for Dergaon, near the town of Dergaon near Golaghat district, which is about 26.4 kilometers away. He will take a night’s rest at the Barfuke Police Academy, said there. He informed that the Union Home Minister will inaugurate the Police Academy on Saturday morning, whose first phase has been completed at a cost of Rs 167.4 crore.
Amit Shah is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the second phase of a residential project of Rs 425.48 crore in the academy. Central port, shipping and waterways minister Sarbanand Sonowal and Himant Vishwa Sharma will also be present on the occasion. After this, Shah will leave for Mizoram, where he will attend a ceremony organized to transfer Assam Rifles establishments from Aizawl to Zokhavasang, about 15 km from the state capital.
Officials said that Amit Shah will return to Guwahati on Saturday evening and take a night’s rest in the state guest house in Koinadhora area. He said that on Sunday morning, Shah will leave for Dotma in Kokrajhar district to address the 57th annual conference of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU). ABSU signed the historic Bodo Peace Agreement five years ago. Amit Shah will address the open session, in which the Chief Minister of the state, Pramod Boro, chief of Bodoland Territorial Area (BTR), senior ministers, MPs and prominent stakeholders will be present.
Officials said that Shah would return to Guwahati on Sunday afternoon and review the progress of the Indian Justice Code with the Chief Ministers of eight states of the Northeast region. He informed that every state will give a presentation on progress in the implementation of BNS. Shah will leave for New Delhi on Sunday night.
