The real reason for the tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan is historical, which is related to the Durand Line drawn by the British in 1893. This border is between Afghanistan and Pakistan and the Afghan government never accepted it. This dispute continues even today, because Afghanistan considers it a violation of its sovereignty.
According to experts, the biggest issue between Pakistan and Afghanistan is the border dispute. This tension increased further when the government of Pakistan expected the Taliban to take action against extremist groups like TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) working against Pakistan, but the Taliban refused to do so. .
Pakistan promoted religious extremism in Afghanistan to weaken Afghan nationalism. In the 1980s, when Soviet troops entered Afghanistan, Pakistan used religious schools to prepare Afghan refugees for the fight. In these schools, refugee boys were trained for war, so that they could fight against the Soviet army in Afghanistan. Pakistan took this step to increase its influence in Afghanistan. But now, this policy has backfired for Pakistan, because similar extremist groups are now spreading terror in Pakistan, like TTP.
Let us tell you that Pakistan and TTP had made weak ceasefire agreements in 2021 and 2022, but they broke due to lack of trust and ideological differences.
