Bihar has been given considerable attention by making many other announcements including the establishment of the Makhana Board, financial assistance for the Western Kosi Canal and expansion in the capacity of IIT Patna in the general budget presented on Saturday by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Announcing the formation of Makhana Board in the state, Sitharaman said, “There is a special opportunity for the people of Bihar. The Makhana Board will be established to improve the production, processing, price addition and marketing of Makhana in the state. People engaged in these activities will be organized in the FPO (farmer producing organization), which will provide support and training assistance to Makhana farmers. ”He said that these FPOs will also work to ensure that they will work for all relevant government schemes Get benefits.
Sitharaman said that apart from this, the government will establish a National Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management Institute in Bihar as per the government’s commitment to ‘Purvodaya’.
Under the Purvodaya Yojana, the government is developing all -round development of the states of the eastern region by incorporating Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
The Finance Minister said, “The institute will provide a strong incentive to food processing activities throughout the eastern region. This will increase income through the price promotion of their produce for farmers and skills, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for the youth. ”
He said that the facility of Greenfield Airports in Bihar will be provided so that the future needs of the state can be met. He said that this would be in addition to the expansion of the capacity of Patna Airport and a brownfield airport in Bihta.
The Finance Minister also announced support for the Western Kosi Canal Project in Mithilanchal region of Bihar. He said, “Financial assistance will be provided for the Western Kosi Canal ERM project, which will benefit a large number of farming farmers on more than 50,000 hectares of land in Mithilanchal region of Bihar.” Also, they, in addition, they in IIT Patna in Patna Also announced the expansion of hostel and another infrastructure capacity.

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan appreciated the announcements made in the budget.
