Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Prahnad Joshi on Wednesday, while mentioning 222 GW of solar energy in the country, expressed confidence that the target of 500 GW renewable energy production will be achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

What did Prahnad Joshi say on renewable energy?

Prahnad Joshi, while answering supplemented questions in the Lok Sabha during the Question Hour, said that solar energy production was only around two GW at the time of Congress governments and today it has reached the level of 100 GW in the Modi government. He said that today the level of renewable energy or non-live energy generation including solar energy in the country is 222 GW.

Work on 180 GW production

Joshi said that the central government wants to cooperate with all the states in the field of renewable energy production, but they have to make necessary compliance. The Minister of New and Renewable Energy said that in addition to this, work on 180 GW production is being done in the country and a tender has been taken out for 79.9 GW production. He said that in this way, renewable energy generation will be 480 GW.

Joshi said that the government aims to produce 500 GW renewable energy. The central government takes the tender for 50 gigawatt production every year, talks to all the Chief Ministers. Many foreign investors are coming to this field.
