Shan Masood Statement After Defeat Against West Indies: Pakistan captain Shan Masood said after the defeat by 120 runs in the second Test match played against West Indies in Multan that not being able to dismiss the lower order batsmen quickly has become a matter of concern for his team. Pakistan performed well in the beginning by winning the toss and batting first against West Indies. Pakistan’s bowlers put the visiting team in trouble by quickly taking the wickets of Michael Lewis, Aamir Jangu, captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Alik Athanaj. After this, Pakistan bowler Noman Ali gave further strength to his team by taking a hat-trick. The West Indies team was struggling at the score of 54/8, but then Gudakesh Moti batted brilliantly and along with Kemar Roach and Jomel Warrican made partnerships of 49 and 68 runs for the last two wickets. Due to these partnerships, the West Indies team was successful in reaching 163 runs.

This performance of Pakistan’s bowling was good, but Shan Masood later admitted that not being able to dismiss the lower order batsmen quickly was a big problem for his team. He said, ‘This is a matter of concern. We need to improve in this area. When we played Tests in Australia, we dismissed the lower order batsmen early, even though Australia had the best lower order batsmen in the world. But in series like Bangladesh, West Indies and South Africa, we were not able to get the lower order batsmen out quickly. This is our responsibility and we have to work on it.

West Indies spin bowlers Jomel Warrican, Kevin Sinclair and Gudakesh Moti bowled brilliantly in Pakistan’s second innings. Together, these three took all the ten wickets of Pakistan and reduced the team to just 133 runs. Warrican took 5 wickets for 27 runs, due to which Pakistan had to face defeat while chasing the target of 254 runs. This victory was the first Test match victory for West Indies in Pakistan in 34 years.

Shan Masood said that it is important for the Pakistan team to improve against lower order batsmen and work will be done on this, so that the team can perform better in such cases in future.
