Apple increased iPhone production from India to $ 22 billion after shifting from China


Apple has produced iPhone worth $ 22 billion in India, which is about 60% more than the previous year. This growth is part of the company’s strategy to diversify its production outside China.

According to sources, the company makes 20% of its prized iPhones in India or one in five.

The iPhone manufacturer and its suppliers are moving from China to India. This is a process that started when Covid Lockdown damaged production in Apple’s largest plant.

A large part of the iPhone made in India is assembled in the Foxconn Technology Group factory in South India. The Electronics Unit of the Tata Group, which bought Vistron Corp and controls the operation of Patron Corp.

The IT minister said on 8 April that out of India’s total production, Apple exported iPhone of Rs 1.5 trillion ($ 17.4 billion) from the region in the financial year till March 2025.

According to sources, after the announcement of the plans of ‘Reciperookal’ tariff in February, the shipment of iPhone from India increased from India. Apple’s average India production and exports increased till March throughout the financial year.

Bloomberg had earlier reported that Apple would prefer iPhone from India’s Apple Supply Chain for its American customers. This also means that there will be no fee on the iPhone made in India.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has often praised China’s high-level skills in making his marquee device. Bloomberg Intelligence has estimated that it would take eight years to take out only 10% of Apple’s production capacity in 2022.

Apple now assembles its entire iPhone range in India, including more expensive titanium Pro models. Its manufacturing success in the world’s most populous country also helps Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s subsidy to convert the country into a manufacturing center.

PM Modi is also trying to broaden electronics component manufacturing with new financial incentives of $ 2.7 billion and focus on advancing his semocultures ambitions. Apple has about 8% market share in India’s smartphone market. In FY 2024, the sale of iPhones has reached around $ 8 billion.
