A team of Delhi Police visited the house of Justice Yashwant Verma trapped in the cash scandal and sealed the place of fire. This action has been taken on the instructions of a committee constituted by the Supreme Court, which aims to protect the evidence from being destroyed. However, the incident is 12 days old, but the investigation is still going on.

On Wednesday afternoon, DCP Devesh Kumar Mahala of New Delhi reached the house of Justice Yashwant in Tughlaq Crescent Lane with his team. After about 2 hours, he left from there. According to sources, the police sealed the store room and its surrounding space, where there was a fire on the night of 14 March and 500-500 notes were seen burning in large quantities.

A three -judge committee constituted by CJI Sanjeev Khanna visited the spot. The three judges of the committee reached the government bungalow of Justice Verma and stayed there for about 45 minutes. According to sources, the committee inspected the fire room and matched it with a video provided by the police.

These include the Chief of Delhi Fire Service, who first said that he did not get cash and then said that he did not give such a statement. According to sources, apart from questioning Verma, the committee is preparing to interrogate those who are the first to react to the information about the fire in the outhouse storeroom of the judge’s residence on March 14. These will include firefighters of Safdarjung Fire Station and policemen of Tughlaq Road Police Station.

According to the details of the fire report of March 21, the Safdarjung Fire Station was reported to be on fire at the judge’s residence at 11.35 pm on March 14 and the fire personnel reached the spot at 11.43 pm. High court employees and judges, including private assistants associated with Justice Verma’s residence, will also be questioned so that the nature of the fire and the presence of cash can be understood. The important part of the investigation will have to be examined by Justice Verma’s call data record of the last six months. Justice Verma has been asked not to delete any information from his phone. The committee consists of Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Sheel Nagu, Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Karnataka High Court Justice Anu Shivraman.
