CM Atishi’s allegation – house snatched twice in 3 months, PWD replied

New Delhi:
After the announcement of the dates of Assembly elections 2025 in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have come face to face on another matter. AAP on Tuesday alleged that the BJP-led central government has snatched away the official bungalow of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi by canceling the allotment. Atishi said that my house has been snatched from me twice in 3 months. However, it does not matter. If needed, she will take to the streets and work for the people of Delhi. Now PWD i.e. Public Works Department has given its views on these allegations of Delhi Government and Aam Aadmi Party.

Sources associated with PWD said that CM Atishi has not been thrown out of the bungalow. The truth is that she had never shifted to this bungalow. According to PWD sources, the government house located at 17 AB Mathura Road is already allotted to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. He has again been offered 2 bungalows.

Let us know what is the controversy regarding Atishi’s bungalow? What allegations did AAP make? What else did PWD say on these allegations:-

What allegations did Atishi make?
Atishi held a press conference on Tuesday with AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj. In this he accused the Central Government of snatching the CM’s official bungalow. He claimed that he has been evicted from the bungalow twice in the last 3 months. Atishi says, “Whatever the central government does, I will keep working for the people of Delhi. Official residence does not matter to me. If needed, I will take to the streets and work for the people of Delhi.”

“When they took away my official residence, I had pledged to give Rs 2,100 to our women. I will also provide free health care services to our elders,” Atishi said.

What answer did PWD give?
According to sources, on Atishi’s allegations, PWD officials said that the offer letter for the bungalow at 6 Flag Staff Road was taken away from Chief Minister Atishi because its investigation was going on. BJP has accused Kejriwal of irregularities and spending crores of rupees in renovation of this bungalow when he was the CM. LG Vinay Kumar Saxena had ordered an investigation.

PWD sources said, therefore Atishi has been offered 2 bungalows. He had to finalize one of these bungalows for himself. PWD said that CM Atishi was offered bungalow number 2, 8 Raj Niwas Lane, Civil Lines, New Delhi and bungalow number 115, Ansari Road, Daryaganj, New Delhi.

According to PWD sources, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has not been evicted from the government bungalow. She had never shifted to this bungalow.

The bungalow was taken back from Atishi for these reasons
– PWD told that Atishi had to take possession of the house within 1 week. He did not do this for 3 months.

– 6 Flag Staff Road is under CBI/ED investigation for alleged corruption in its construction. Therefore the CM cannot be allowed to stay here.

-When Atishi was allotted CM House, a condition was imposed. This condition was that CBI/ED is investigating the CM House. Therefore, the new CM will also have to cooperate in the investigation.

-However, Atishi deliberately did not take possession of the government house, so that the house remained closed and the work of the investigating agencies was affected.

Let us tell you that BJP calls Delhi’s CM House as Sheesh Mahal. First of all, PM Modi used the word Sheesh Mahal in a rally.

What is CM Bungalow controversy?
BJP has called the official residence of the Chief Minister of Delhi (CM House) built at 6, Flag Road as Sheesh Mahal. Arvind Kejriwal lived with his family in this bungalow from 2015 to 2024 (till his resignation). BJP alleges that Arvind Kejriwal had spent Rs 45 crore for the renovation of this bungalow while he was the CM. BJP had released a video about this bungalow in December. The party’s allegation was that how Kejriwal converted CM House into a 7 star resort with public money.

What allegation did BJP make?
Delhi BJP had claimed quoting the government report that a total of Rs 44.78 crore has been spent for the renovation of Delhi’s CM House. Actually Rs 43.70 crore was released for this. In this, Rs 11.30 crore was spent on interior design and decoration alone. Money was released for Kejriwal’s bungalow in 6 installments between September 2020 and June 2022.

CBI registered the case in September 2023
For the first time in May 2023, BJP attacked CM House. After this, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena wrote a letter to CBI Director Praveen Sood and entrusted him with the task of investigating the CM House renovation case. CBI filed a report in this matter in September 2023. Since then the investigation of this case is going on.
