Despite BCCI’s strictness, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will stay away from Ranji Trophy, big reason revealed

The Indian team had to face 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. With this defeat of Team India, the dream of reaching the final of the World Test Championship was shattered. After this BCCI showed strictness. The board issued a 10-point guideline, in which playing domestic cricket was made mandatory. However, exemption from playing domestic cricket will be available only if approval is taken from the head of the selection committee. Despite BCCI’s strict statement, there is news that Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will not play in the upcoming Ranji Trophy.

According to ENPScricinfo report, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will not play the upcoming Ranji Trophy. Kohli and KL Rahul have told the BCCI medical staff that they have suffered some injuries, due to which they will not be able to play in the next round of Ranji Trophy matches to be held from January 23.

It is learned that Kohli was suffering from neck pain and had taken the injection on January 8, three days after the end of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney. Kohli told the BCCI medical staff that he was still feeling pain, due to which he had to miss Delhi’s match against Saurashtra in Rajkot. KL Rahul has an elbow injury, due to which he will be out of Karnataka’s match against Punjab in Bengaluru.

Kohli and Rahul have another chance to play in the Ranji Trophy, with the final round of the group stage starting on January 30, with the matches concluding close to the start of the ODI series against England on February 6. Both Kohli and Rahul are in the race to play the ODI series and Champions Trophy against England, the teams for which will be announced on Saturday. Test regulars who will play in the next Ranji Trophy round include Rishabh Pant (Delhi), Shubman Gill (Punjab) and Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra).
