DRI failed to smuggle narcotics in Mizoram, 52.67 kg methmfetamin seized


A big success against Narcotics in Mizoram has been handed over. The Revenue Intelligence Directorate i.e. DRI has recovered a huge amount of methamfetamin pills under a major operation, thwarting drug smuggling.

Late night of 11 April 2025, DRI stopped a 12-wheel truck on the outskirts of Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. During the search, 53 brick -like packets hidden in the tarpaulin of the truck were recovered, on which “3030 Export only”, “999” and diamond marks were made. These packets had orange pink pills. Investigations from the NDPS Field Test kit confirmed that methamfatamins were present in them.

The truck is registered in Nagaland and it moved from a piercing, whose destination was Tripura. However, due to the vigilance of DRI, the truck was caught before exiting the border of Mizoram. Investigation revealed that the truck had first transported to Cement from Meghalaya to Champai, and after that the drug was loaded with a courage.

In this operation, 52.67 kg methmfetamin tablets were recovered, the price in the international market is said to be around Rs 52.67 crore. The truck driver and his associate have been arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985.

Initial investigations have indicated that this drug was smuggled into India through the pouring sector from Myanmar. This action of Dri reflects her determination against drugs. Since the beginning of the year 2025, DRI has seized a total of 148.50 kg methamfatamin in the north-eastern region, which is considered a major success in the fight against drugs. This promptness of DRI has exposed another big narcotics racket. Such actions not only curb smuggling, but also play an important role in protecting the youth from the drug trap.
