This time the target has come on the target, the US space agency NASA has come, which has to be accepted by Trump’s order. NASA has dismissed the diversity, equality and inclusion of Jet Propulsion Lab or Dei chief Neela Rajendra, who is of Indian origin. The Space Agency has done so, following the executive order of Donald Trump. Trump had ordered that all the persons hired have to be removed under such a diversity initiative (initiative to represent every section), and all such programs have to be abolished across the country.
It is not that NASA did not try to save Neela Rajendra. In an attempt to save him from being fired, NASA allegedly changed his post to ‘Head of Office of Team Excellence and Employee Success’. But finally the attempt to save them finally failed.
In an e-mail update shared by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) last week, employees were informed about the exit of Neela Rajendra. According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the e-mail sent by NASA’s JPL director Laurie Lesin wrote, “Neela Rajendra is no longer working in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. We are incredibly grateful to the permanent impact they have on our organization. We wish her.”
Significantly, Neela Rajendra was one of the handful of employees whose jobs were not taken out last year when NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab faced a serious fund crisis. At that time about 900 other Dei employees in NASA were abolished.
Even when NASA dropped the shutter of his diversity department after Donald Trump’s executive order in March this year, Neela Rajendra still managed to escape it as his designation was changed, although his responsibilities remained the same. A completely new department was created for him.
On March 10, in an email, NASA informed its employees that Neela Rajendra will now be the head of ‘Office of Team Excellence and Employee Success’. Lab employees were told that in their new role, Neela Rajendra will be responsible for the “affinity groups” in the lab, including “Black Excellence Strategic Team”.
However, this bet of NASA did not work. After strict action by the Trump administration in early April, he was freed from his duties in NASA. That is, removed from the post.
