A case of shooting has come to light at Antioch High School in Nashville, America, in which one student died and another student was injured. CNN gave this information quoting the police. According to Metro Nashville Police, the shooting occurred at 11:09 a.m. (local time) in the school’s cafeteria. The suspect has been identified as 17-year-old Solomon Henderson, who fired several shots from a pistol into the school cafeteria.
Furthermore, the police revealed that the shooter, after shooting his classmates, also shot himself. Police said that one student had ‘wounds’ on his hand and he was discharged after treatment. Another student was hit on the face, but was not hit by the bullet. However, the police did not reveal the names of those victims.
Earlier in Nashville, police spokesman Don Aaron said at a news conference that a police SWAT team had evacuated the building. Metro Nashville Public Schools has announced it is making counselors available to students. “Antioch families, MNPS social workers and guidance counselors will be available to provide support to you and your student,” the school district said.
According to the website of Antioch High School, there are approximately 2 thousand students from 9th to 12th class. According to CNN report, these schools are located in the Antioch area of Nashville, which is about 10 miles southeast of the city. Aaron said two student resource officers, known as SROs, were at the school at the time of the shooting, but by the time they arrived at the scene, the incident had ended.
“They were nowhere near the cafeteria… By the time the SROs reached there, the firing had stopped and the attacker had shot himself,” he said.
