Air India, the country’s largest airline, said on Friday that London has disrupted its coming and going from Heathro. London Heathrow Airport has been closed for a day, as the power supply stopped due to fire in a substation in the western part of the city. This disrupted power supply in more than 16,000 houses.
Air India issued a statement saying that the AI 129 from Mumbai to London Heathro is returning to Mumbai and the AI 161 coming from Delhi has been diverted to Frankfurt.
The airline said, “All our flights from London Heathro, including AI 111 this morning have been canceled for March 21. As soon as we have more information, we will release the updates.”

However, the airline further said that it would not affect the flights to London Gatwick.
The London Heathro Airport has advised passengers in an X post to maintain contact with airlines for not traveling and further information.

On behalf of the airport, he said, “Heathro is lacking in power due to a fire in an electrical substation supplying power to the airport. Heathro will remain closed till 11.59 pm on March 21 to maintain the safety of our passengers and colleagues.”
Many flights have already been diverted
According to reports, several flights have already been diverted, sensing the potential threat. It was reported in the reports that the Scottish and Southern Electricity Network said that the fire was in the North Hyde Substation and emergency services were on the spot. The power network supplies electricity to about four million houses in Central and Southern England as well as Northern Scotland.
Heathro is the largest airport in the UK, which handles about 1,300 landing and take-off every day. Last year, 83.9 million passengers passed through its terminals.
