I am the Leader of Opposition but I have not been allowed to speak for the last one week. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday made serious allegations against the Lok Sabha Speaker. On this issue, the Lok Sabha Speaker has said that the Leader of Opposition is expected to follow the dignity and rules of the House.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday told Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to conduct the House according to the rules and traditions and it is expected from them. At present, it was not known that Birla made this comment about which conduct of Rahul Gandhi.
When Birla made this comment, Rahul Gandhi was present in the House. The Lok Sabha Speaker said during the Zero Hour that the members of the House are expected to maintain the high drivers of dignity and decency of the House. Many such incidents have occurred in my cognizance that the conduct of the members is not corresponding to the high traditions and parameters of the House. He said that father-daughter, mother-daughter and husband and wife have been members in this house. In this perspective, the Leader of Opposition is expected to behave in the House according to the rules under Rule 349.
House is being run in a undemocratic manner: Rahul
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, said on Wednesday after his comment on his conduct by President Om Birla that he has not done anything like this and the House is being run in a undemocratic manner.
Lok Sabha Speaker Birla on Wednesday told Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to behave according to the rules and traditions of the House and it is also expected from them. After this, he adjourned the proceedings of the House till 2 pm.
After postponing the proceedings of the House, Congress MPs met Birla and lodged a protest against the Leader of Opposition “not to give a chance to speak”. Rahul Gandhi told reporters in the Parliament complex, “The Lok Sabha Speaker said something about me. When I stood up, he got up and left and postponed the proceedings of the House. ”
He claimed, “Whenever I stand to speak in the House, it is not allowed to speak, whereas it has been a tradition that the Leader of Opposition stands, he should be allowed to speak.” Don’t know how the House is running. ”
Rahul Gandhi said, “I have done nothing. I was sitting peacefully. I did not say anything in the last seven-eight days. In democracy, both the government and the opposition are in place, but there is no place of democracy here. It is not known what the Lok Sabha Speaker thinks. ”He alleged that the House is being run in a undemocratic manner.
In the House, Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi alleged that the Leader of Opposition is not given a chance to speak. He claimed that if any BJP MP or minister only stands up, then they get a discount to speak. Gogoi said, “When Sushma Swaraj ji was the Leader of Opposition, what respect she used to get in the Lok Sabha has all seen.”
He said, “We met the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and lodged our objections and told about the disregard of the dignity of the Leader of Opposition.” He said that no satisfactory answer has been received from the Lok Sabha Speaker. Gogoi said, “We want the House to go, but this is a conspiracy so that the atmosphere in the House is bad.”
