Anil Chaudhary has decided to comment in IPL that he has retired from umpiring. Anil Chaudhary umpiring in the Ranji Trophy final between Kerala and Vidarbha in Nagpur last month and it is believed that this was his farewell match. Let me tell you, Anil has been abundant in 17 seasons of IPL. He last umpiring in an international match in 2023.
According to the news agency PTI, Chaudhary has started planning his future due to his retirement closer and he will be seen commenting in regional language. He will comment in Haryanvi in the IPL starting on March 22 and will sometimes try his hand in Hindi.
PTI quoted Anil Chaudhary as saying, “I have been commenting for the last three-four months. Therefore, I was already in a phase of change. I am also teaching umpiring and commentary through online platforms. As an umpire, I used to umpire in about 15 matches in a session but here I will get a chance to comment in more than 50 matches. Being an umpire, I have a different view on the game. “
Let me tell you, Anil Chaudhary, who hails from Delhi, has been umpiring in IPL since the start of IPL in 2008. At the same time, Chaudhary said about not being able to prepare a good Indian umpire in the international circuit in the last few years, “We take a lot of stress on the field. Sometimes, our umpires do not eat properly. We are focusing a lot on the principle while we should pay more attention to practical work.”
Anil Chaudhary further said, “Some people pay a lot of attention to the technical side and cite the rules all the time, this is not the best way to umpiring. Those who rely on book knowledge, they are harming the game. We need to understand the feeling of rules. You cannot move forward just by resorting to rules.”
Anil Chaudhary said about the umpiring career that he is satisfied with this. However, he could never make a place in the Elite Panel of ICC. There is only one Indian umpire from 2020 in the elite panel – Nitin Menon. Chaudhary, who was proud of the five Ranji finals and umpiring in the Asia Cup final in 2022, said, “I have been an international umpire for more than 12 years. I have been doing IPL since 2008 and have done this in more than 200 matches. Something goes in life.”
