Ira Jadhav’s big record: Mumbai’s 14-year-old opening batsman Ira Jadhav on Sunday became the first Indian to score a triple century in Under-19 cricket by scoring 346 runs against Meghalaya in the Under-19 Women’s ODI Trophy. Ira, a student of Shardashram Vidyamandir, the school of Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli and Ajit Agarkar, played this innings with the help of 42 fours and 16 sixes in 157 balls. This is also the highest score by an Indian in ‘Youth List A’ matches. But the world record in this category is in the name of Liezel Lee of South Africa, who scored 427 runs in a domestic match in 2010.
Ira was not sold in the last Women’s Premier League auction. However, he has been included in the ‘standby’ of India’s Under-19 T20 World Cup team for the tournament to be held in Malaysia.
Thanks to the triple century of Murid Ira by Indian batsman Jemimah Rodrigues and her 274-run partnership for the second wicket with captain Hurley Gala (116, 79 balls), Mumbai scored a huge score of 563 runs for three wickets. In reply, Meghalaya team was out for just 19 runs and in this innings, six players were out for zero. With this, Mumbai registered a huge victory of 544 runs. With this inning, Ira Jadhav has become popular on social media.
