In Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, about 85 km from Mangaluru in Karnataka, late on Friday night, a man shot his wife dead over a family feud and then committed suicide by consuming poison. Police gave this information on Saturday. Giving information about the incident, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police N Yatheesh said that the deceased have been identified as Vinoda (43) and her husband Ramachandra Gowda alias Chandra (54).
He told that allegedly after a family dispute, Ramchandra shot his wife with his licensed revolver, due to which she died on the spot.
Ramchandra had returned in an intoxicated state
He told that Ramchandra returned home in an inebriated state and then after lunch, started quarreling first with his parents and then with his wife and son over a minor issue.
The fight soon escalated and in anger Ramchandra pointed the revolver towards his son Prashant but his wife Vinoda ran to save their son, then Ramchandra pressed the trigger and Vinoda died on the spot due to the bullet.
Committed suicide by drinking acid
After this, Ramchandra drank the acid kept in the house which was used in preparing rubber sheets and within some time he also died.
Superintendent of Police Yatish said that on the complaint of the deceased couple’s son Prashant, a case has been registered at Sullia police station and it is being investigated.
