Yash Johar had to sweat blood to bring the company into profit. However, when Karan Johar started making films in the 1990s, Dharma went through a very difficult time. This was revealed by Nikhil Advani in the recent interview to Retro. He told that there was a time when Karan Johar’s house was mortgaged and his mother Heeru had a heart attack.
Director and film maker Nikhil Advani said, ‘I remember Karan told me that there was a time when he sold his light and camera. He mortgaged his house. Heeru aunt had a heart attack. I think Amit ji met Yash Uncle and asked him, ‘How is Heeru?’. They were both very close because they were school friends. Yash Uncle told him, ‘He is in Breach Candy Hospital.’ Amit ji left his shooting and went to the hospital to meet him.
He further said, ‘He was in the hospital. Amit ji came out, met Yash Uncle and said to him, ‘There is a boy with which I am making a film. Romesh is producing it, but you call him and tell him that Amit has given dates for your film. There is a subject on scarfs, we should do it together. In this way Agneepath started. This is how the film was made. He just said, ‘I know what round you are going through, I know what your condition is now, I am giving you dates, let’s start.’
