After the violence in Nagpur city of Maharashtra on March 17, the curfew in 10 out of 11 police station areas has either been removed or relaxed. The official said that Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal initially lifted the sanctions in Nandanvan and Kapilnagar, but this evening he ordered the removal of curfew from Sakkardara and Imamwara under Panchpavali, Shantinagar and Lakdganj and Zone 4 under Zone 3.
He informed that however, curfew will continue in Kotwali, Tehsil and Ganeshpeth police station areas under Zone 3 and people will be relaxed in curfew for necessary purchases from 7 pm to 10 pm.
“After the death of Irfan Ansari, who was injured in the violence of March 17, there has been no relaxation in curfew in Yashodhara Nagar police station area after the death of Irfan Ansari, who was injured in March 14.”
Police said Ansari (40), who welding welding, died in the hospital on Saturday. Ansari left the house from Nagpur railway station to catch the train for Itarsi from Nagpur railway station at around 11 pm on Monday night. This area was affected by violence.
The official said that action will be taken against those who violate curfew rules under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code (disregard of the orders of the public servant).
He said, “Essential services, government employees and students taking the examination have been exempted from this.
