PM Modi celebrated the festival of Sankranti and Lohri in Delhi, wished the countrymen

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday attended Sankranthi celebrations at the residence of his Union Cabinet colleague and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy. He also participated in a function organized on the occasion of Lohri in Narayana Vihar area of ​​the capital Delhi and wished the countrymen on this festival related to agriculture.

In the program organized at Reddy’s residence, BJP President J. P. Nadda, Telugu film star Chiranjeevi, badminton player P.V. Sindhu and several Union ministers also attended the program. During this, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was also present. Modi participated in the rituals related to the festival.

Later, while sharing pictures related to this program on ‘X’, the Prime Minister said, “With my cabinet colleague G. Participated in Sankranti and Pongal celebrations at Kishan Reddy’s residence. Also observed an excellent cultural programme.

He said, “All over India people celebrate Sankranti and Pongal with great enthusiasm. It is a celebration of gratitude, abundance and newness, deeply rooted in the agricultural traditions of our culture.

The Prime Minister greeted the countrymen on Sankranti and Pongal and wished everyone happiness, good health and a prosperous harvest season ahead.

Makar Sankranti is a festival which is celebrated with different names and ways in different states. In North India it is called Makar Sankranti. In Tamil Nadu this festival is known as Pongal. In Assam it is called Magh Bihu and in Gujarat it is called Uttarayan. This festival is related to harvesting of crops.

Prime Minister Modi often visits his cabinet colleagues from the region (where the festival takes place) to participate in the celebrations of various festivals.

Later the Prime Minister participated in a function organized on the occasion of Lohri festival in Naraina in the capital Delhi.

While sharing pictures related to this ceremony on ‘X’, he said, “Lohri has special significance for the people, especially for the people of North India. It is a symbol of newness and hope. It is also related to agriculture and our hardworking farmers.

He said, “This evening I got the opportunity to celebrate Lohri at a program in Naraina, Delhi. People from different walks of life, especially youth and women, participated in the celebrations. Happy Lohri to all!”

The festival of Lohri is celebrated in Punjab, Haryana and other parts of North India. On this day people collect wood and burn it and pray for happiness and prosperity.
