Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently recalled Kerala’s great freedom fighter and lawyer Chetur Shankaran Nair for his important role in his freedom struggle of India. He appreciated the fearless legal battle of Nair against the British Empire after the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Addressing a gathering in Yamunanagar, Haryana, PM Modi said that every child and adult from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh should know about Nair’s contribution.
On this occasion, the upcoming film Kesari Chapter 2 was also mentioned, which is bringing Nair’s inspirational story on screen. The film will be released on 18 April 2025, playing the role of Akshay Kumar Nair. In such a situation, Akshay thanked the Prime Minister through social media for remembering Shankaran Nair. He wrote on his X account, ‘Thank you to the great Chetur Shankaran Nair ji and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for remembering his contribution to our freedom struggle. It is very important that we as a nation, especially the younger generations give importance to those great women and men who bravely fought to ensure that we breathe in an independent country! Our Kesari Chapter 2, is a humble attempt to remind everyone that we should never take our freedom lightly!
Significantly, the makers of the film say that this story will connect the younger generation to the sacrifices of those heroes, who put everything at stake to liberate the country.
