Steve Smith, Most Catches for Australia in Tests (Wicket-Keeper): The second match of the two -match Test series between Sri Lanka and Australia is being played in Galle since today (6 February 2025). He has become the first cricketer to catch the most catches as a non-winner player in Test cricket from Australia. In a special case, he has left behind former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Smith caught two best catch on the first day
The first day of the second Test match is over. Steve Smith appeared in a tremendous style in fielding during the match. He caught two best catch for the team. Which includes the wicket of Prabhat Jayasuriya besides Sri Lankan star batsman Kamindu Mendis. During the match, Mendis batting for his team in fifth order, 13 in 21 balls, while Prabhat Jayasuriya was out without opening an account.
First day stump
The first day stump of the second Test match has been declared. The Sri Lankan team won the toss and batting first and managed to score 229 runs at the loss of nine wickets till the game was stopped. On the first day, Dinesh Chandimal and wicketkeeper player Kusal Mendis were burnt. Chandimal, batting on the third order for the team, managed to score 74 off 163 balls, while Mendis batting in seventh order, scoring an unbeaten 59 runs in 107 balls.
