The Balochistan’s human rights activist has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, Pakistan has filed a case by accusing him of terrorism. We are talking about Dr. Maharang Baloch, the chief organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). The police of Quetta of Pakistan have registered an FIR against 150 others including Dr. Mahirang Baloch. Dr. Mehrang Baloch has been arrested on Saturday, March 22.
This report has been published by Pakistan’s newspaper Don. According to the report, the case is related to an incident in Quetta’s Civil Hospital. It is alleged that members of Byc allegedly attacked the hospital morgue and earlier this month took the bodies of five rebels killed in an operation against the train Hijack.
The FIR lodged at the police station on March 22 includes allegations under the anti-terrorism Act and separate sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. The allegations include crimes such as terrorism, murder and attempt to murder, encouraging violence and rebellion, creating chaos, promoting racial hatred and damage to property.
According to the report, the police officers arrested Dr. Maharang Baloch and 17 others on Saturday morning and put them in Quetta District Jail under Section 3 of the Public System Maintenance Ordinance. Meanwhile, internet services in Quetta and surrounding areas remained closed for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday.

Dr. Mehrang Baloch is a major Baloch woman human rights activist. He has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. He was included in the 100 most influential and inspiring women by BBC 100 Women in 2024. Time magazine included his name as one of his 100 next emerging leaders.
Dr. Mehrang Baloch runs campaigns for the rights of the people and in Balochistan against systemic human rights violations conducted by Pakistani officials, especially army, police and intelligence agencies.
