World Top 5: Death penalty abolished in Zimbabwe, sentence of 60 prisoners commuted to jail

Under this, death penalty will no longer be given in the country. The President of Zimbabwe has signed an order regarding this.

  1. Many questions have been raised in the world regarding death penalty. Now Zimbabwe has officially abolished the death penalty. The country’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has signed a law under which the sentences of 60 death row prisoners will be commuted to life in prison.
  2. According to a UN report published on Tuesday, Israeli attacks on hospitals in and around the Gaza Strip have completely destroyed health care in the Palestinian territory. Citing potential war crimes and crimes against humanity, the UN Human Rights Office report said such attacks raise serious concerns about Israel’s adherence to international law.

The US military said its forces have struck Houthi rebel positions in the Yemeni capital, which the Iran-backed rebels use to attack US warships and commercial vessels US Central Command said the strikes began on Monday and US Navy ships and aircraft also attacked Yemen’s Houthi-controlled coasts.
