Temba bavuma suffred an elbow injury: South Africa’s Test team captain Temba Bavuma suffered an injury to the elbow two months before the World Test Championship Final. Bavuma was expected to play against Titans for Lions in the first class final of the four-day series of Cricket South Africa, which is starting in Wanderers on Thursday. However, he did not reach Johannesburg. According to ESPNcricinfo report, Lions came to know late on Wednesday that Bavuma would not be able to play the match due to minor injury.
Since the conclusion of the Champions Trophy, Bavuma has not participated in any competitive cricket. However, he was part of the Lions’ team for the match played against Nights last week in Blomfonten. This match was canceled.
Bavuma fractured the left elbow in 2022, due to which he had to withdraw from the tour of England in South Africa that year and stayed out of the field for three months. Last year, while completing the single in ODI against Ireland in Abu Dhabi, his elbow got hurt again, due to which he had to drop out of the Test series of South Africa against Bangladesh.
South Africa has just eight weeks before the WTC final against Australia starting on June 11. They will not play any cricket till then. Many players of the team will join IPL 2025 and other county cricket.
South Africa has qualified for the final of the World Test Championship this time. To qualify, the team secured eight wins and 69.44 points in 12 Tests.
At the beginning of the World Test Championship Bicycle, the team drew a series against India on the home ground. After this, he had to face a clean sweep at the hands of New Zealand. Despite this, South Africa returned out of the home ground with an impressive win against the West Indies and Bangladesh, and then also performed effectively on the domestic ground.
