
Ajay singh big statement: Ajay Singh, president of the Indian Boxing Federation (BFI), on Wednesday alleged that BFI general secretary Hemant Kalita Kalita Kalita is preventing Olympic bronze winner Loveleena Borgohen from attending the national championship. Singh said in an emergency press conference here that Lavlina, who won a bronze medal in the 69 kg category at the Tokyo Olympics, wants to participate in the domestic competition starting on Thursday in Greater Noida but Kalita has asked her to withdraw from the tournament who holds the post of secretary in the Assam Boxing Association.
Kalita has been found guilty of financial mismanagement in an investigation conducted by former Delhi High Court Judge Sudhir Kumar Jain. Singh said, ‘Assam is discouraging boxers from participating in the women’s national championship. Lovelina has recorded a video in support of the competition. But the officials have received a call that Hemant Kalita has asked him not to participate. Lovelina has a huge contribution in Assam boxing, so she is reconsideration of her participation.
Kalita has not immediately responded to the charge. He was one of the four candidates for the post of president in the soon to be held in BFI elections, but his nomination was rejected on the basis that he would have to go through the ‘Cooling of Period’ after completing two term in separate roles in the institution.
