Aakash Chopra Question Team India Selection of 3 pacers: Former Indian team player Aakash Chopra has raised questions on the management’s decision to include four spinners and three fast bowlers in the team selected for the ICC Champions Trophy. Aakash Chopra has said that out of the three fast bowlers selected by India, there are questions regarding the fitness of two players.
Let us tell you, during a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday, Ajit Agarkar announced Team India for the Champions Trophy and three ODI series against England. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh have been given a chance in the Champions Trophy team.
The ICC Champions Trophy will be played in Pakistan and Dubai. This tournament of 8 teams is starting from 19th February. India has been placed in Group A along with New Zealand, Bangladesh and Pakistan. India will start its campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. In the form of Hardik Pandya, there is only one option for a fast bowling all-rounder in the Indian 15-member squad.
While reviewing India’s Champions Trophy team, Aakash Chopra said about fast bowling on his YouTube channel, “There are only three fast bowlers and this is big news for me. Because where you are picking three fast bowlers. So what is your thinking, you will feed only two out of the three you have chosen.
Chopra further said, “If you felt like playing three, you would have played four. It is that simple. It means that you are making up your mind that you will play three spinners. We will play Axar as well, we will also play Jaddu.” We will feed Kuldeep too. You have almost played your hand before anything has even started.”
Aakash Chopra further said, “No one knows anything about the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah. I even asked the chairman and he also said that we do not know. Hopefully he will become fit. No one knows anything about the fitness of Mohammed Shami yet.” Don’t know. Maybe he is fit enough to play and what his form will be like, we don’t know. Arshdeep is being played in ODIs now.”
Regarding Mohammad Siraj, Aakash Chopra said, “I feel that he has not done anything bad enough to be dropped at all. I feel bad for Siraj. I think Siraj should have been named in this team.” One spinner could have been selected. And the rest seems to be fine, out of which you have to play two pacers. Not a good story.
