Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has resigned. Trudeau addressed the nation on Monday and announced his resignation. Trudeau said, “I announce my resignation as leader of the Liberal Party and as PM. I feel that I am not a good option for the Liberal Party for the 2025 elections.” Canadian news CBC quoted sources as saying that Trudeau will remain in office as Prime Minister until his successor is chosen. After Trudeau’s resignation, it is believed that there may be a demand for elections before the scheduled time.

Trudeau was under pressure from his Liberal Party MPs to step down for several months. Recently, Deputy PM and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland had resigned from the post making serious allegations against the Trudeau government. After this the pressure on Trudeau increased. Trudeau is also accused of running an anti-India agenda to divert public attention from national issues.

In fact, in the last few years, the voice of rebellion has increased in Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party. Many high profile MPs of the party, including Sian Casey and Ken Macdonald, have publicly expressed their opinion against Justin Trudeau. These MPs have termed the statements and decisions of their Prime Minister as wrong. Questions have been raised on his leadership. The party is putting pressure on Trudeau to leave the post of PM. According to some international reports, at least 20 MPs of the Liberal Party have signed a petition demanding the resignation of Justin Trudeau from the post of Prime Minister.
