The army has ordered an inquiry into the matter after a professor of a university in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir accused the army personnel of assault. The army said in a statement on Friday, ‘The incident of alleged misconduct with some persons by army personnel in Rajouri district has come to light. This area is sensitive and the army was informed of the possible movement of terrorists in a vehicle. Under this, a search operation was being conducted.

The statement further said, ‘Preliminary information shows that when the person was stopped, he tried to snatch weapons from the soldiers on duty and a clash arose. However, orders have been ordered to investigate the entire case. If any young man is found guilty, strict action will be taken against him under the current law.

It states that the army is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in the operation of anti-terrorism campaigns.

The statement said, “All sections of the society are requested to maintain cooperation and participation with the Indian Army for collective and comprehensive security in this sensitive area.”

The alleged incident occurred when Professor Ali was returning to his home in Kalakot after attending the ceremony before a relative’s wedding with some of his family members.

Professor Ali of New Delhi -based Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) wrote a post on the social media forum X saying that she was attacked without any reason.

Professor Liaquat Ali wrote in a social media post, ‘My whole family has served in the Indian Army. I have always been proud of uniform, service and sacrifice. But today’s experience shook that pride inside. I was attacked without any reason – he was killed with a weapon on the head and that too by those people who always trusted it blindly.

The professor further wrote, ‘This made me realize a terrible truth – if the system wants, he can do an’ encounter ‘of any human being, that too without any evidence, no lawsuit and without justice.
