Kolkata Police’s Special Work Force (STF) arrested a weapon dealer from Howrah railway station, from whom pistols and cartridges were recovered. An official gave this information. The officer said that the accused is a resident of Murshidabad district and he was in the process of fleeing Chennai. On Friday, he was arrested from the railway station and a case has been registered against him under the related sections of the Arms Act.
The police officer said, ‘The arrested accused is one of the wanted main weapons dealers in the case registered in the STF police station. He was arrested from Howrah station and we have recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine and 10 cartridges from him. He said that apart from this, four semi -manufactured weapons and four pistol ‘barrels’ have also been seized from his possession.
The local court sent the accused to police custody by 17 April.
