BCCI Vice President Shuts Down Pakistan Journalist: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla (Rajeev Shukla) was among the Representatives of Cricket Board in the second semi -finals of 2025 of ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 between New Zealand and South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium here on Wednesday. In view of India’s recent diplomatic tension over India’s participation, Shukla’s presence in a high-profile match between South Africa and New Zealand has attracted a lot of attention. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), a total of five representatives of five different cricket boards were present for the knockout match. Apart from Shukla, other attendees included Roger Twos (New Zealand Cricket), Farooq Ahmed (Bangladesh Cricket Board), Foletesti ISAC Moskey and Dr. Mohammad Mousaji (both Cricket South Africa).
PCB posted on X, “PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi along with BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla joined the ICC Champions Trophy semi -finals at Gaddafi Stadium. Officials of Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa and Zimbabwe Cricket Board are also watching the matches.” The PCB also posted a video of dignitaries watching the match in the presence of PCB chairman.
Shukla’s visit is particularly important as the BCCI refused to send the Indian men’s national team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, citing the instructions of the Indian government earlier. Due to this decision, there was a long -standing deadlock between BCCI and PCB and both boards were engaged in extensive talks about the tournament hosting. As a result of the controversy, the ‘Fusion Formula’ finally began – an agreement presented by PCB – according to which when India or Pakistan hosts a multi -nation tournament in the next three years, both will play their matches at the hardcore rival neutral places, which was Dubai in terms of Champions Trophy 2025.
Shukla’s visit to Lahore is being seen as a possible step towards making cricket relations easier between the two neighboring countries. Although no official statement has come on further discussions between BCCI and PCB during the visit, Shukla’s presence in Lahore indicates openness for interaction and future cooperation.
