Islamabad:
Pakistani Army Chief General Aseem Munir on Saturday highlighted the ‘two-nation theory’ and said that Muslims and Hindus are two different countries. Munir’s remarks came about a week ago after a program called Kashmir as “the vein” of Pakistan. He had asked Pakistanis living abroad to tell the country’s story to their children. He had emphasized that his ancestors believed that Hindus and Muslims are different in every aspect of life.
Munir was addressing the cadet’s ‘passing out parade’ at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday. Munir said, “The two-nation theory was based on the basic recognition that Muslims and Hindus are two different nations, not one. All aspects of Muslim life – religion, customs, tradition and thinking are different from Hindus.
His remarks have come amidst increasing tension with India after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday. 26 people were killed in this attack and India announced several steps against Pakistan, including postponing the Indus Water Treaty.
General Munir said that Pakistan has been achieved after many sacrifices and it is the duty of the armed forces to keep it safe. He said, “Our ancestors have given a lot of sacrifices for the construction of Pakistan. We know how to protect it. ”
On April 16, Munir described Kashmir as a “nerve of throat” of Pakistan during a program of the migrant community and he also urged Pakistanis living abroad to tell the country’s story to their children. Munir had said, “Our attitude is absolutely clear, this (Kashmir) was the vein of our throat, it will be the vein of our throat and we will not forget it. We will not leave our Kashmiri brothers alone in their struggle. ”
He cited the ‘two-nation theory’, propounded by Pakistan founder MA Jinnah, “You have to tell your children the story of Pakistan so that they would not forget that our ancestors thought that we are different from Hindus in every possible aspect of life.” Munir said, “Our religions are different, our customs are different, our ambitions are different, our ambitions are different, our ambitions are different. It is from here that the foundation of two-nation theory was laid. We are two nations, we are not a nation. ”
India has told Pakistan many times that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were an integral part of the country, and will always be.
