There has been an increase in violence in Pakistan’s Sindh due to the old traditions of honor killing and due to this, eight people, including five women, have been murdered in four districts here in the last three days. Geo News has given this information. An accused named Bhoral Chachar shot dead his daughter-in-law Razia and her alleged lover Majid Chachar in Kabil Chachar village near Obero in Ghotki district.

The man murdered his daughter-in-law for this reason

The shooter, who surrendered before the police along with the murder weapon, confessed to the crime, saying he shot his daughter-in-law along with an unidentified man in a compromising position, who shot both of them on the spot, RY News reported. . The police sent the bodies to the local hospital for post-mortem.

The young man was also murdered

According to Geo News report, in another incident in Bungul Dero, Larkana, a man shot dead a youth, Riyaz Brohi, and later killed his wife Samina Brohi in Nazar Mohalla, Larkana and then fled. Police took the bodies to the hospital and said that the deceased Riyaz Brohi had recently returned from Dubai and efforts are on to arrest the alleged killer.

Such incidents are happening even after strict laws

Despite campaigns by rights groups and strict laws, such killings are often carried out for alleged crimes such as friendship with married men or violation of religious and cultural values ​​on female modesty. Additionally, a man named Sultan Chandio shot his sister-in-law Rukhsana Chandio and her alleged lover Bakhat Janwari and fled at Taj Muhammad Chandio village near Kubbo Saeedkhan in Qambar-Shahdadkot district. Similarly, in Peer Jalil near Humayun police station in Shikarpur, one of the accused, Jamir Marfani, shot his wife Khanzadi in the name of honor killing and fled from the spot.

Hundreds of women become victims of this type of murder.

In Deh-13, Sanjoro, a suspect, Muhammad Umar Bugti, shot his wife, Azima, over alleged adultery and then fled. Police have arrested two suspects after registering an FIR against the alleged shooter and his two brothers. Every year, hundreds of women in Pakistan become victims of such murders, mostly by close relatives. However, according to Geo News, such violent incidents have now become common even in urban areas of the socially conservative country.

Honor killing to be a matter of concern in 2024

According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), honor killings remain a serious concern in 2024, with significantly higher numbers recorded in Sindh and Punjab. Between January and November, 346 persons across the country became victims of such heinous acts of violence.
