
Sudan’s paramilitary forces laid siege to North Darfur on Friday. The capital L-Fashar and nearby famine affected camps attacked and killed 57 citizens, while the fight to control the western part of Sudan has intensified.
The volunteer support group, the Local Resistance Committee said that from April 2023, the Rapid Support Forces, a war with the army, launched a major attack on El-Fasher using heavy artillery, sniper fire and suicide drones from the east and north-east. The group said, “By 5 pm, 32 people had been killed in the city, including four women and 10 children aged one to five.” He said that at least 17 others were injured, who were taken to the hospital.
The local committee said that earlier RSF fighters attacked the displacement camp around Al-Fashar, killing 25 civilians, including women, children and elders.
The local resistance committee said that the RSF started the attack using heavy artillery, sniper fire and suicide drones from the eastern and northeastern outskirts of the city. This group is a grassroots voluntary network, which has been assisting citizens during the conflict began in April 2023.
