A 10-year-old girl student died and 18 other students were injured when a school bus overturned in Valakkai in Kerala’s Kannur district on Wednesday. Police sources gave this information. According to sources, the student traveling in the bus fell out of the window and died after being buried under the vehicle when the bus overturned.

This bus belonged to Chinmay School located in Kurumathur of the district. Sources said that the deceased student has been identified as Nedya S Rajesh and was a class five student.

According to sources, the condition of one of the injured students is critical and there were 20 students in the bus at the time of the accident. Sources said the bus lost control while giving way to another vehicle and overturned on the road.

13 serious students have been taken to the hospital for better treatment. As soon as information about the accident was received, there was a stir among the school administration and parents. Everyone has come to the spot and is busy investigating the matter.

Police said that the driver has been booked under Indian Judicial Code sections 281 (rash driving on public road), 125 (A) (negligent act endangering human life or personal safety) and 106 (1) (negligent act). A case has been registered under IPC.
