America went out to kill the sea precious ‘gems’, Trump’s order is the threat to the environment?

America is ready to dive into the sea deeply to find the rare earth minerals, ie rare earth minerals. Rejecting the warnings of environmental groups, President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order to expand the US deep sea mining for rare economy in domestic and international water.

White House parties say that this initiative can collect more than one billion metric tons of deep sea nodules (shells that contain metals) and invest hundreds of billion dollars in the US economy.

A decade long international efforts are going on to determine the ground rules for the rapidly growing deep sea industry. And in the midst of him, Trump has brought the search in the sea on a fast track.

Why did America take this decision?

Between the growing trade war from the US, Beijing has banned the export of many important rare earth elements, metals and magnets. This move of China is big in itself because 90% of all the rare meanings that come out worldwide are inside China. That is, China has almost monopoly on them. Now you can ask that if China does not give rare meaning metals, then what will be wreaked havoc. Let us tell you here that in the era of today’s technology, rare meaning metals are such factor from which control can be maintained in your hand. In fact, from weapons to electronic equipment, caring to making aerospace, from making semiconductor and making consumer goods, there are components of rare meaning everywhere.

Significantly, mining in commercially deep sea is still in its early stages, but the global race is going on for rare meanings. The special thing is that China is dominated by this industry. Now it seems that Washington is ready to expand its ability to protect its defense, advance manufacturing and energy industries.

Under the order given by Trump, the US Commerce Secretary has “60 days to expedite the process of reviewing and issuing the maritime mineral discovery in regions beyond the national jurisdiction and issuing the commercial recovery permit.

The purpose of promoting deep sea mining policy is partially “to strengthen partnership with colleagues and industry to combat China’s growing impact on marine mineral resources”.

Why is the environment considered to be threatened?

The International Cabed Authority (ISA) is trying to prepare a roombook to balance the warnings of irreversible environmental damage and efforts to increase economic capacity. The special thing is that America is not a member of this UN body.

Last week, American firm Impossible Metals said that it had asked American authorities to “start a lease process” in a parcel in the Pacific Ocean around the American samoa.

A senior administrative officer told the media shortly before signing Trump’s order that the US could get more than one billion metric tonnes of materials from this mining in the sea, and this process can produce around 100,000 jobs and can produce $ 300 billion in domestic gross domestic product in 10 years.

Many countries are trying to increase the ability to mining in deep seas, which are seen as a possible boon to switch to industries and green energy. But environmental groups have warned that this process can cause major ecological damage.

Emily Jeffers, a senior advocate at the Center for Biological Diversity, said in a statement, “Rapid mining in the deep sea is an environmental disaster .. Trump is trying to open one of the Earth’s most delicate and less delicate and low -understanding ecosystems for careless industrial exploitation.”
