Saikia said, ‘We have chosen the best team for the Champions Trophy. And I am confident that we will win the trophy. India has a very large bench strength, and I do not think it (absence of Jaspreet Bumrah) will have a major impact on the team combination. Talking about the form of senior batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the BCCI secretary expressed confidence in the brilliant performance of both in the tournament. India captain Rohit scored a century in the second ODI against England, while Kohli finished his drought by scoring a half-century in the final ODI and the hosts won the series 3–0. Earlier, India, led by Suryakumar, won the five-match T20 series 4–1.
