Hema Malini married superstar Dharmendra since 1980. This was Dharmendra’s second marriage. Dharmendra and Hema Malini have two children, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. It has been more than 40 years since their marriage. However, very few people would know that Hema Malini’s mother Jaya Chakraborty did not want Hena Malini to marry Dharmendra. Mother Jaya did not want her daughter Hema to marry the father of four children. Jaya wanted her daughter to marry an actor of her choice. For this, she tried to convince her daughter in every way, but despite this, Hema ignored her mother’s choice and married Dharmendra.
Let us tell you that Hema’s first film with Dharmendra was in ‘Tum Haseen Main Jawaan’ (1970). After 10 years both of them got married. When Dharmendra married Hema Malini, he had two sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol and two daughters from his first wife Prakash Kaur. Due to Dharmendra’s marriage to Prakash Kaur, Hema Malini’s parents were against their marriage. Many films of Hema and Dharmendra became hits one after the other in the 80s. And their pair was considered a star pair. However, Hema’s mother Jaya believed that Hema pairing with Jeetendra and Sanjeev was better. However, she did not want any of them to be her son-in-law.
Jaya Chakraborty was a producer and costume designer, known for films like ‘Dream Girl’ (1977), ‘Swami’ (1977) and ‘Dillagi’ (1978). Hema Malini’s mother’s dream was to become a dancer, but when it remained unfulfilled, she focused on making her daughter a superstar. Hema Malini has worked in more than 150 films during her film career. Hema Malini started her acting career in 1963 with the Tamil film ‘Idhu Saathiyam’ and made her Bollywood debut with ‘Sapno Ka Saudagar’ (1968).
According to the 250th issue of Mayapuri, Hema Malini’s mother wanted Indian actor, film director, Kannada writer and playwright Girish Karnad to be her son-in-law. He liked Girish Karnad’s work and his acting skills. Reports say that Hema Malini’s mother also inspired Hema and Girish Karnad to work together in the 1979 film ‘Ratnadeep’ to bring them closer. However, despite all the efforts, Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s love grew deeper with time.
