Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious “Surya Ghar Yojana”, one lakh people have registered in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. Under this scheme, the process of installing solar panels is increasing rapidly, due to which the residents of the city are getting relief in the electricity bill and they are also getting subsidy from the government. Prime Minister Modi launched this scheme in 2024, and now the Varanasi administration is busy in bringing it from house to house.
Talking to IANS, UPNEDA vendor Ajay Srivastava said that the response of customers is very good for this scheme in Varanasi. About 70 percent subsidy is being given, which is a major relief for consumers. People are aware of this scheme through various publicity programs of the government and they are getting a big benefit of electricity savings by installing solar panels.
Ajay Srivastava said that the registration process takes about two hours, and the work of solar panel installation is completed within a week to 10 days. After this, the beneficiary gets subsidy directly to their account.
Another beneficiary Virendra Pratap Singh said that he had installed solar panels four months ago and now 15 units of electricity are being generated daily in his house. He says that his solar panel system is generating 450 units of electricity a month till now, due to which they are getting relief from the problem of electricity bill. Virendra described this scheme as very beneficial and said that after getting information from the newspaper, he took advantage of this scheme.
