Its name comes on top in the list of highest grossing films of 1975. Interestingly, Shoal is the film that was considered a flop first week, but the magic of Word of Mouth did not take the name of landing from theaters for five years. You know from where the robber of Sholay came from? Let us tell you …
In the ravines of Gwalior, there used to be a robber in the 1950s, in whose name people trembled. His name was Gabbar Singh, who was notorious for his cruelty. This robber used to consider the policemen as his biggest enemy and he enjoyed cutting his nose and ears. Born in 1926 in Dang village of Bhind, Gabbar Singh had lived a simple life earlier, but in 1955, his life changed after dacoit Kalyan Singh Gurjar joined the gang. Soon he formed his separate gang and became synonymous with terror in the Chambal valley. There was a reward of 50 thousand rupees on this. Gabbar Singh’s terror ended on 13 November 1959.
In this way, Gabbar Singh, the character of the film Sholay released in 1975, was inspired by this real dacoit. The film’s writer Salim Khan heard the stories of Gabbar from his father, who was in Madhya Pradesh Police. In this way, he named this character as Gabbar Singh. Amjad Khan played this character so strongly that the film went on for 5 years in theaters and broke all the records of earnings. Sholay is still one of the most prestigious films of Indian cinema.
