The 1990s were the era of liberalization of the Indian economy. As the Indian markets opened, many new ways of earning were developed. Actors started doing commercials, due to which they came in the eyes of more and more viewers. Due to this, his stardom grew rapidly. This also led to a significant increase in their fees. Chiranjeevi was the first Indian star to earn more than ₹ 1 crore for every film, he achieved this at 1992 with Apandbanduwoodu. He gained this lead among the actors, but there was also a name in the actresses which reached this height first.

First actress to charge 1 crore

Sridevi, who is often considered one of India’s first female superstar, was the first actress to charge ₹ 1 crore for every film. The actress allegedly took this amount for the Raja Ka Raja Ka Raja, which was released in 1993, which was one of the most expensive Indian films at that time. Chiranjeevi had crossed the figure of ₹ 1 crore from him and apart from him only Sridevi had charged so much fees. Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan joined this club in the 90s mid. But the interesting thing is that in 1997, Sridevi was not only the highest fee actress in Bollywood from films to her first break but also charged more than her mail coastars.

The three Khan – Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir – were the top stars of the industry along with Sunny Deol and Sanjay Dutt till 1992-97.
