The decision was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday at Lok Sewa Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

With the latest decision, government officials and employees will now be permitted to travel abroad for urgent personal work, official assignments or training programmes, subject to obtaining prior permission from the state government.

According to the Cabinet, the ban had been imposed earlier as part of austerity measures in view of the prevailing situation in West Asia.

The Cabinet said the restriction has now been withdrawn following an improvement in the regional situation, allowing eligible government employees to undertake foreign travel at their own expense, provided they secure the necessary government approval before departure.
