GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam remained critical on Monday, August 10, as the death toll reached 100 with two more flood-related deaths reported, while nearly 1.4 lakh people continued to reel under the impact of the deluge across seven districts, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

One person remains missing amid the ongoing flood situation. A total of 456 villages continue to be affected, while 11,933.46 hectares of crop area remain submerged. The widespread inundation has affected agricultural land and livelihoods in several flood-hit areas.
Authorities have set up 252 relief camps to accommodate displaced residents, while 2,050 relief distribution centres are operating across the affected areas to provide essential supplies and assistance to flood-hit communities.
Relief operations are being carried out alongside rehabilitation and restoration efforts as the situation gradually evolves across the affected districts.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has begun a doorstep assessment of damages caused by the floods across all affected districts. The assessment started on Sunday, August 9, and officials are expected to document the extent of damage to houses, livestock, agricultural land and other assets affected by the floods.
The damage assessment process is scheduled to continue until August 31.
With the flood situation still affecting thousands of people, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely while relief agencies and district administrations remain engaged in providing assistance to those in need.
