Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sarma said the initiative aims to identify and nurture emerging sporting talent across Assam while providing young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their abilities.
The tournament’s mascot, ‘Sontu’, is inspired by the golden langur. Sarma said the name was selected to establish a sense of familiarity and connect with the people. He also credited emerging artist Shantanu Hazarika with designing the tournament’s logo.
The third edition of Khel Maharan aims to strengthen grassroots sports participation and provide a wider platform for aspiring athletes across the state.
