Assam Premier League Player Auction Kicks Off with Marquee Player Round


 

GUWAHATI: Denish Das emerged as the most expensive marquee player at the Assam Premier League (APL) Player Auction after Barpeta Braves signed him for ₹12.60 lakh during the opening marquee player round held in Guwahati on Sunday, July 19.

Sumit Ghadigaonkar was the second-highest marquee buy, with Charaideo Sunrisers acquiring him for ₹12.20 lakh, while experienced Assam batter Sibsankar Roy joined Barak Legends for ₹12 lakh.

Rounding off the top five marquee signings, Ayushman Malakar was picked up by Tezpur Titans for ₹11.80 lakh, while Swarupam Purkayastha was bought by Jorhat Stallions for the same amount.

The marquee player round witnessed intense bidding as franchises competed to secure some of Assam's top domestic cricketers ahead of the upcoming edition of the Assam Premier League.

Among the other notable marquee acquisitions, Barak Legends signed Abdul Ajij Kuraishi for ₹8.40 lakh and Bhargab Lakhar for ₹5.20 lakh. Barpeta Braves also secured Saurav Dihingia for ₹7.80 lakh.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh Warriors added Saahil Jain to their squad for ₹7.20 lakh and signed Jitumoni Kalita for ₹6.20 lakh.

With the marquee player auction setting the tone for the tournament, the bidding will continue as franchises look to strengthen their squads from the remaining pool of players ahead of the new APL season.
