Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the decision on Tuesday, June 9, stating that the enhanced DA and DR will come into effect from July 2026. The move is expected to benefit more than eight lakh state government employees and pensioners across Assam.
"Our employees and pensioners are valued partners in Assam's growth story. To further support them, the Assam Cabinet has approved a 2% increase in DA and DR, taking it from 58% to 60% from this July. We remain committed to their welfare and wellbeing," the Chief Minister said in a post on social media platform X.
Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief are revised periodically to help offset the impact of inflation on salaries and pensions.
According to the Chief Minister, the revised amount will be credited from July, offering a boost to the monthly earnings of government employees as well as pension beneficiaries.
