GUWAHATI: All four youths injured in a firing incident at Ming Mang Bodoti village along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Dhemaji district are out of danger and undergoing treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said on Tuesday, August 11.

Pegu said he spoke to Dr Dhrubajyoti Bhuyan, Superintendent of AMCH, to enquire about the condition of the injured and was informed that all four were responding to treatment.
Among the injured, Utpal Doley, who sustained an injury to his right eye, has shown improvement in vision. However, doctors have detected a metallic foreign body in the orbit, and he may require further specialised treatment.
Pama Pegu, Utpal Doley and Bhaijan Doley, who suffered injuries to different parts of their bodies, are under the care of the Department of Surgery and undergoing necessary procedures, Pegu said.
The minister said he had asked the hospital authorities to provide all necessary medical care to the injured and was maintaining contact with the hospital regarding their condition.
“I pray for their speedy and complete recovery,” Pegu said.
The incident occurred on August 10, when unidentified armed men opened fire in the border area following a confrontation, leaving at least 18 people injured. Four of the injured were initially reported to be in critical condition and were shifted to AMCH for advanced treatment.
The identity of the assailants remains unknown, while security forces and the local administration are monitoring the situation. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has described the incident as a localised conflict and said an investigation would be conducted to establish the circumstances leading to the firing.
